CHANDIGARH: A large number of youth from across Punjab will converge in Chandigarh on Saturday to learn and brainstorm on a range of burning issues concerning the country today. They will participate in a National-Level Youth Summit hosted by the Panjab University, under the aegis of Volunteer for a Better India (VBI), an initiative of the Art of Living. The summit aims to sensitize youth by strengthening and inculcating values to reflect and respond to burning issues related to seven core issues -- HIV and AIDS, declining child sex ratio, sexual-reproductive health and rights, drugs and alcohol, corruption, millennium development goals and safety for girls and entrepreneurial opportunities. Workshops on these issues will be held at the Gymnasium Hall of the Panjab University, amidst UN representatives, between 9 am and 1.30 pm. The summit will begin with a joint plenary session followed by seven parallel breakaway workshops. "The summit will echo Sri Sri Ravishankar's vision of a harmonious and an addiction free society led by country's youth. The purpose of the summit is to connect the youngsters to a cause which is close to their heart for society. The workshops by UN representatives will train them to start up their own initiative in that direction," said VBI's Paulomi Mukherjee.
