Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of the Art of Living Foundation, performed Chandi Homa at Chamundeshwari temple atop Chamundi Hill in city this morning. The Homa was performed at the Homa Kunda on the right side of the sanctum sanctorum by chief priest of the temple, Shashishekhar Dikshit between 8:30 am to 10:45 pm, considered as auspicious time. This period is considered the end of Shravana month and beginning of Bhadrapada month, as per the Hindu calendar. Speaking to SOM after the Homa, Ravishankar said that he performs the Homa every year at the Chamundeshwari Temple in city during this period. The spiritual leader said that the intention of performing the Homa was to pray for world peace and for the welfare of mankind. He said that he had visited Suttur Mutt yesterday and donated 250 solar lamps among tribal families in Chamarajanagar as part of the Foundation’s social service activities. Evading a question about controversial godman Asaram Bapu, Sri Ravishankar, after being persistently questioned, said, “Truth will prevail ultimately and the guilty will be punished.” When questioned about the allegation that the Art of Living foundation had encroached government land at the foot of Chamundi Hill, the spiritual leader said that the issue was in the High Court and hence he was unable to comment. He then left for his Ashram at the foot of Chamundi Hill with his disciples. Source Star of Mysore
