"While the shooting incident of Norway has shocked the world, it has brought a serious matter to the surface of human existence i.e. the prejudice, lack of tolerance and fear psychosis. Even a few youth who have a misconception, can prove to be dangerous to the society. Hence, it is very important that multicultural and multi-religious education and celebrations should happen more often in every part of the world. I send my deep condolences to the families of the victims and I pray that God gives strength to all of us to get over this trauma."

Indo-Pak dialogue process should continue

Jammu, Jul 23 (PTI) Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar today gave a thumbs up to the ongoing Indo-Pak dialogue process and said Mumbai-like terror attacks should not hamper the peace talks."Dialogue (Indo-Pak talks) should continue (despite the Mumbai attacks). It would be continued," Ravi Shanker told reporters after inaugurating a Ma Sharika Meditation Centre at Raipur area in the outskirts of Jammu city this evening. "But at the same time stringent measures should be taken (to deal with the terrorism)," he said. In reply to the question about the present security situation in Jammu and Kashmir as compared to last few years, Ravi Shanker said "There is peace in Kashmir this year. Time is better than last year for normal life". "A better environment is prevailing. Locals are very happy," said Ravi Shanker, who had returned after 2-day visit of the Kashmir Valley. 

With regard to his meeting with Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, he said "it was courtesy call. it was good meeting".Shanker also said that Amarnath yatra is expected to reach a record of 7 lakh this year. "The yatra is going on smoothly. It is expected to reach a record of 7 lakh this year. Next year, it would further increase," Shanker said.

Involve separatists in talks: Sri Sri

Srinagar, July 21: The Art of Living Foundation founder and spiritual leader, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on Thursday called for involvement of separatists in the talks for the resolution of Kashmir issue in Srinagar, India.

"They (separatist leaders) are respectable and important persons," Shankar told reporters after meeting Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

Shankar said there has been considerable improvement in the situation in Kashmir as compared to last year. "The things are better now," he said.

Mirwaiz said he stressed upon Shankar that Indian civil society should play constructive role in resolving Kashmir issue.

"I asked him (Shankar) that he is advocating humanitarian values and Kashmir is also a humanitarian issue and so he and like-minded people should help in resolving the dispute," Mirwaiz said.

Mirwaiz said during the interaction he told Shankar that "Yatris are our guests and we have always welcomed them".
"We have always upheld Hindu-Muslim unity even during toughest times," he said.

Ravi Shankar's Mass Meditation for World Peace: 70,000 Gather at World Culture Festival

For a second, close your eyes and picture this: 70,000 people from around the world assembled in mass meditation, sitting shoulder-to-shoulder in a shared moment of silence, their eyes closed and minds free from any cultural or religious differences.

Earlier today, visitors from 150 countries did just that as an international effort of meditation. The event is just one of many at the World Culture Festival, hosted by the International Art of Living Foundation to commemorate the organization's 30th anniversary. Here, at the two day-long affair at Berlin's Olympiastadion, guests can experience traveling the world by taking in the sounds of Costa Rican folk music or perhaps by tasting a sweet or two from the Middle East.

H. H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has been honored with 'Human of the World' award at the World Culture Festival, Berlin, yesterday (2nd July 2011). The award was bestowed by Alexander Stephanov, President of the Academy of National Security of Russia.
