Art of Living founder and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said on Saturday that though it was not appropriate for him to favour a particular party, he said it was time to get rid of 'khhichdi sarkar'.

He said coalition governments in India have not been a good experience. He also appealed to people not to vote for corrupt politicians who offer bribes to woo voters. Speaking at a news conference in the city, Sri Sri said people accept bribes due to poverty. "But that is not a sin as a corrupt politician would only be giving prospective voters their own money, not his. So, even if they take money, they should not vote for such a candidate. This will nip corruption in the bud," he said.

Sri Sri also addressed around 1 lakh followers in the city in a satsang and exhorted them to vote for morally upright candidates. "I am here to ask voters to select morally upright candidates, not the corrupt. Parties give tickets to immoral candidates merely because they have a vote bank," he said.

He said people had lost hope with AAP. On Sonia Gandhi's recent meeting with Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari of Jama Masjid, Sri Sri said, "If leaders want to meet religious representatives, they should meet representatives of all religions, not as per vote bank."

He said people should elect the strongest candidate for the Prime Minister's post.
