TOI, Jan 21, 2012. GAYA: Art of Living (AOL) founder Sri Sri Ravishankar on Friday evening praised the state government and said the present situation is better than the one prevailing a few years back. Visiting Gaya after a gap of nearly 12 years, he said with all-round peace and prosperity, Bihar is a changed place now. During his previous visit, he was cautioned against moving out openly. But now there is peace and order everywhere in the state. Addressing his followers at Gaya Gandhi Maidan, he exhorted them to take a vow neither to give nor take bribe. He favoured collective action against the corrupt. Besides praising good governance and pledge against corruption, Sri Sri also honoured former Maoist N K Singh who renounced the gun to join the Art of Living. He presented a shawl and memento to the former Maoist. He also honoured several other achievers, including Sarvodaya activist Dwarko Sundarani, "tree man" Sikandar and "mobile teacher" Vishwanath Vishwakarma. Sri Sri also exhorted the local farmers to shun chemical fertilizer and go for organic farming. He promised marketing support to the farmers engaged in organic cultivation. Announcing the opening of an employment bureau in Gaya, he said there is demand for yoga teachers across the world and he has contacts in 152 countries of the world where employment opportunities for the unemployed exist. Coming down heavily on alcoholism, he said that liquor consumption in the country is growing at a very fast pace which did not augur well for the country's youth. Liquor consumption in the country has registered a three-fold increase in the last few months, he said, favouring total prohibition for the general welfare of the people.
